Emily and JP’s Waveland Wedding by Los Angeles Wedding Photographer Brandi Potter
With this blog post I’m going to tell the story of how truly forgetful I am and how I ended up with the new Canon 35L lens. It was Friday and I went to Lexington to meet with clients and then I ran over to Murphy’s Camera Shop to put the lens in layaway. I have a hard time spending large amounts of money at one time, so the fact I can put camera gear in layaway is perfect.
I debated for about 30 minutes in the car of whether or not I should go back into the store and just pay it off, but finally decided not to. I was in reverse when a friend of mine pulls in so I get out and talk with him for a bit. I got a text about 10 minutes into our conversation from Emily asking if I knew where to go for the rehearsal dinner.
This was literally the biggest OH SHIT moment I’ve ever had because I completely forgot that we had talked about the rehearsal when her and JP booked me. I started to panic a little because there was no way I could come back to Louisville and get my stuff and make it back in time. My friend Justin is a saint and handed me a 6D body he just happened to have in his car. I went back into the store, got the lens out of layaway, bought a battery charger and an SD card and headed to the rehearsal and got there on time. Thankfully. I’m incredibly lucky my friends are the best and just seem to show up when I need them the most.
I actually really love shooting rehearsal dinners because it’s a good chance for me to get to know everyone in more of a relaxed environment. It really makes it a lot easier on me when it comes to the wedding day, and I already know the relationship dynamic between everyone. Anyways, I’m not showing the rehearsal photos but enjoy looking through such a quaint and special wedding.
