Ashley and Justin’s Seminary and Seelbach Wedding by Louisville Wedding Photographer Brandi Potter
A couple of weeks ago Ashley and Justin had the cutest little ceremony at one of the Louisville Seminaries and then moved the reception to the Seelbach Hotel run by Hilton. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s full of so much history and gorgeous design.
People like F. Scott Fitzgerald use to drink there, and it’s said that he based a lot of the Great Gatsby on people he met there. Daisy even got married in the Grand Ballroom in the book. Al Capone also use to frequent the hotel, and even had secret tunnels in and out of it. Presidents, Elvis Presley and so many other famous people use to stay there as well. It’s absolutely stunning and I’ve been dying to shoot there for awhile now. Especially in the Rathskeller room.
I actually wanted to take Ashley and Justin into the Rathskeller for portraits before I realized that they were actually having their reception there. It is literally the only room in the world like it. It’s covered in Rookwood Pottery from top to bottom, and even has a section of leather ceiling. This room actually use to be more of a speakeasy during prohibition, and it’s one of the most amazing rooms I’ve ever been in. I highly recommend going if you live in town and have never seen it. If I ever get married and I don’t elope, it’ll be in this room.
