Kirstie and Josh’s Backyard Louisville Wedding by Lexington Wedding Photographer Brandi Potter
Despite the rain and anything else this Louisville Backyard wedding happened and it was amazing. I NEED more weddings like this in my life. I am in love with backyard weddings, and weddings that have all of these personal touches. Kirstie’s Mom made the wedding cake, and I’m serious when I say that it was better than most of the cakes I’ve had from real bakers. Her family also put together the decor, tables, tents, everything. They made her the prettiest little swing as well for photos, and having it in her Mom’s backyard was so comfortable and inviting (unlike most venues).
I’ve known Kirstie online for a couple of years, we’ve just never had the opportunity to meet in person until her wedding. She’s also a very talented photographer (Purple Fringe Photography), and I was extremely honored she asked me to photograph her wedding. When I first saw that she had gotten engaged I really wanted to reach out and be like, “Hey! Can I shoot your wedding!?!?” Luckily, I didn’t have to stoop that low, and I was extremely excited when I got her email asking if I was available.
Someone did ask me at the wedding if it was nerve wracking shooting for other photographers, and it really can be. You know you have to be on point and get things right, but at the same time it’s so refreshing being able to shoot for someone that understands all the work that goes into it. Other photographers also really value what I do, and so do their significant others which is so so nice.
