Casey and James’ 70’s inspired styled session by Lexington Wedding Photographer Brandi Potter
First off I have to say that I never could have gotten through this shoot without the help of everyone. Casey and James for modeling. Casey for styling herself and James after I told her what I was going for ( she also owns a vintage shop if you’re interested in a lot of fun dresses/vintage ). My dear friend Ami for making our delicious carrot cake. Seriously trying to talk her into going into business but she’s not having it. And Brittany for helping me drag everything back into the field and sweating with me all day.
In the beginning of planning I had more of a Wes Anderson style in mind, but that quickly morphed into a 1970’s theme once I started shopping. I found the chairs for $5 a piece at the habitat for humanity store in Lexington. Most of the table settings came from the local peddlers mall, and the goblets from Walmart (surprise). The peace sign gold hand is from Hobby Lobby, and I ordered the air plants from an etsy shop called Plant in the Air. I also bought the real flowers from Kroger and the giant fake orange ones from Hobby Lobby. Oh, and my Dad made the table from our old barn wood (the barn is still partially standing, it’s over 100 years old).
This was exactly what I needed to flex my creative muscles, and even though I’ve had a lot of wonderful weddings this season it’s still nice being able to plan and do my own thing. Although, I definitely wouldn’t want to plan a wedding now, and I definitely don’t want to ever get into floral arrangement. All in all I’m VERY happy with the way everything turned out, and it was much better than I ever could have dreamed.
