Sequoia Grove Engagement Session

Bethany and Spencer’s Redwood Engagement Session by Los Angeles Wedding Photographer Brandi Potter

Have you ever walked into a place and felt like you were having a religious experience? Being surrounded by so many giant sequoias was like being in church. Do you know how surreal it is to look up at these trees and realize that they were standing during the Middle Ages, and some of them way before that? It’s unreal. I teared up while walking through the trees and realizing that there are so many people out there who would willingly cut these beauties down for commerce.

It’s so important when we shoot in spaces like this that we respect nature and don’t trample new growth and new saplings. We saw the damage from some of the recent fires first hand in the grove and it was so sad. I know social media is making all of these places cool again, and making people run out to them, but just watch your impact and clean up after yourselves. AND DON’T START OPEN FIRES.

Bethany and Spencer are now dealing with the impact of the wildfires in Malibu. For a day or so we all thought that their venue (Calamigos Ranch) had burned to the ground, but it seems the event portion of it is safe. It’s been pretty devastating for everyone in California with all of the recent fires, which is why you need to watch your impact. Don’t be the reason someone loses their home or life. Just be respectful when you’re out and about.
