Steph and Carter’s San Diego Couples Session by Destination Wedding Photographer Brandi Potter
A couple of hours before I had to meet up with Steph and Carter I found out a friend had died. I kept it quiet. I didn’t want this mini session, the rehearsal dinner, or the wedding the next day to be affected by something out of everyone’s control. Especially when I was on the other side of the country. My sweet friend Olivia helped me get through those two days. She had planned her trip to visit her fiance around this wedding just so she could shoot with me, and she honestly went above and beyond. She is one of the most kind hearted people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.
I had originally told Olivia not to mention what had happened to anyone. I didn’t want our mini session, the rehearsal, or the wedding the next day to be affected by it. She, of course, confided in Hannah (a bridesmaid and an amazing photographer), who made it a point to check in on me. I am so fortunate that I had these two throughout both days.
It also didn’t hurt that Steph and Carter are so loved by everyone. Being surrounded by all of that love, and even going through and editing their rehearsal/wedding has been so uplifting for me. I was worried that when I got to their wedding it would just bring back the pain I had been feeling then, but that hasn’t been the case at all. I am incredibly thankful that this is my job and that I get to be surrounded by such kind hearted amazing people.
